Synthetic hair extensions are hair extensions made of chemically synthesized products. The two most common types of synthetic hair extensions are made from Kanekalon and Toyokalon.
Kanekalon is the more heat resistant of the two types of synthetic hair extensions. Some manufacturers claim that Kanekalon-based synthetic hair extensions are good up to 230 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes Kanekalon-based synthetic hair extensions better is you want to style your hair extensions with curling irons. They are also the more realistic looking type of the two types of synthetic hair. However, Kanekalon-based synthetic hair extensions tend to matte sooner if not taken good care of.
Synthetic hair extensions are mostly used for weaving, braiding, and for cornrows. Most people choose synthetic hair extensions over human hair extensions because it is cheaper and its durability when used in braiding and cornrows. However, it normally doesn’t last a long time when used in weaving and tends to depend on the quality of the synthetic hair extensions selected.
